A condition census and early die state O-107. Totally original and very pleasing, this near-GEM has a handsome look. Pewter and dove blends with lilac on both sides. A lovely underlying luster accents the various shades in the tone. The strike is bold with just some minor weakness, typical of the date. A strong glass reveals a stray tick or two, but nothing that detracts from the great eye appeal. PCGS 68, NGC 69, CAC 14. There is a wide range of prices realized at auction for PCGS/CAC MS64s, from a low of $4,560 in 2012 to a high of $12,025 in 2016; the most recent selling for $10,800 in April 2019. The current Collectors Universe value is $5,250. Scarce any finer, there are about three dozen graded higher which no doubt includes multiple duplicates, as most are clustered in 64+ and 65. A great coin for a type or date set. Cert. Number 38150901 PCGS # 6100.00
