- 1812 Classic Cent. S-291. Rarity-2+. Small Date. VF-35 (PCGS). This is a well balanced Choice VF with light, generally even wear that has left plenty of bold definition to most design elements. A later die state is evident, however, both through incomplete denticulation around the borders and the sharpness of the crack (as struck) in the field above Liberty's head. Inviting copper brown patina with a smooth, glossy texture. A bit of old, light surface build up is well concealed within the recesses around the reverse devices, and it in no way inhibits uncommonly strong eye appeal in a mid grade large cent of this type.
