- A GLORIOUS GEM Proof 1887 Morgan dollar. Highly reflective, watery textured fields flash and highlight variegated greens, golds, and blues that come to life as you rotate the surfaces in a light. There are a few tiny lines and a patch of darker toning at 9:00 on the obverse which we note for accuracy. The devices are fully and crisply rendered on both sides. The eye appeal is sensational, wholly original and a true GEM in every way. Only 710 Proofs were struck. PCGS 30, NGC 43. The last non-CAC PCGS example sold for $4,800 in November 2021.
