详细说明: 1847 Liberty Seated Half Dime. MS-67 (PCGS). The 1847 (1.2 million circulation strikes produced) may be among the more frequently encountered half dimes from the 1840s, but the vast majority of survivors are circulated to one degree or another. Mint State coins are occasionally available, even so, but it has been many years since this cataloger (Jeff Ambio) can recall handling an example with the technical and aesthetic merits of this awe-inspiring Superb Gem. High in the Condition Census for the issue, the surface preservation is particularly remarkable when we consider that coin collecting as a serious pursuit did not really take hold in the United States until the late 1850s. How this piece survived so close to pristine is a mystery, but the surfaces are definitely silky smooth in sheen with full, vibrant, satiny mint luster. Gorgeous peripheral toning in vivid blue and reddish-orange iridescence rounds out an already impressive list of attributes. Worthy of a premium bid!
