- 1781 Battle of Doggersbank Medal. Betts-589, Van Loon Supp., 562. Silver. MS-63 PL (NGC). 44.6 mm. Blushes of sandy-silver and iridescent gray drift over both sides of this endearing piece. The fields are bright, reflective, and form a splendid backdrop to satiny and smartly impressed design elements. This commemorative medal is one of several struck for a Dutch audience commemorating the Dutch Navy's holding off the greater British Navy at the Doggers Bank, a shallow area in the North Sea between the two countries.
