- 1887 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). Essentially brilliant on the obverse, the reverse is lightly toned in iridescent gold. Both sides are fully struck with bold cameo contrast between the fields and design elements. Our multiple offerings of Gem quality examples in this sale notwithstanding, the 1887 is a conditionally challenging Proof Morgan dollar issue. Indeed, most survivors from a mintage of 710 coins grade no finer than Proof-64. Provenance: From the Naples Bay Collection.
