- Great Britain. Hampshire--Emsworth. 1794 Earl Howe / Sailing Ship Halfpenny Token. D&H-16a. Copper. AU-53 (PCGS). 153.2 grains. Struck on a planchet that was too small for the dies, the upper obverse and lower reverse borders are off the flan. The design elements that are present are boldly rendered, the surfaces nicely preserved with blended autumn-brown and olive patina. A few swirls of variegated color on the reverse are noted, as is a tiny carbon spot at the upper left obverse border. Extremely rare. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
