- 24.8 mm. 64.7 grains. Glossy deep olive-brass surfaces are fairly uniform with just a trace of gentle mottling and a singular subtle patina spot on each side, neither of which is threatening. Very nice surfaces with just a single trivial and ancient scratch right of the face. There are no other flaws of note, and the reverse is better struck up than on many seen. A pleasing example of this early political, thought to have been issued at the time of Washington's second inauguration, which took place in the Senate Chamber of Congress Hall, in Philadelphia, on March 4, 1793. The Rulau-Fuld reference notes this as a "restrike, about 1860," an assertion that makes little sense and seems to have no factual support. Anything of that period would be a strike for collectors and more often than not saved, whereas these are almost always respectably worn, sometimes aggressively so.
