- 1864 Indian Cent. Bronze. Proof-64 RB (PCGS). A fully struck specimen with soft light orange color partially veiled in an overlay of sandy olive-brown patina. The fields are well mirrored in finish, a feature best appreciated with the aid of a strong light source. A carbon deposit at the upper left obverse border is noted, seemingly the only impediment to an even higher numeric grade. Flying Eagle and Indian cent expert Rick Snow (2014) estimates that the Mint struck 300 Proofs of this issue, a one-year type as the only Indian cent produced in bronze composition without the designer's initial L on the obverse.
