- 1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 11-F, W-6310. Rarity-5-. Slim Indian, Period After MASSACHUSETTS. VF-25 BN (NGC). CAC. A handsome marbling of mahogany and reddish-brown patina greets the viewer from both sides of this overall boldly defined example. The Native American's head is soft, yet partially discernible, and all other features are readily evident from a well centered impression. Light planchet flaws (as made) are present at the Native American's head and left shoulder, above the eagle's left wing, and from the lower left reverse border to the right talon. Otherwise the surfaces are quite smooth in hand, although accuracy does compel us to mention a shallow disturbance at the obverse border outside the letters MO in COMMONWEALTH.
