- An interesting Cherry Picker variety that is in the same class as the 37-D 3-Legged Buffalo nickel. Created the same way as the 3-Legged nickel, the reverse die was heavily polished eliminating the eagle's sixth feather (lower back wing, next to the thigh). This one is tied for FINEST graded of the variety and is a high grade example of this conditionally challenging date. For the date, this coin is tied for second highest graded, with just 15 graded finer. A brilliant, bold mint luster radiates on both sides. Generally well struck with just a hint of softness at the extreme centers of the design type. A kiss of color at the peripheries can be spotted with effort, but this coin is mostly untoned. Clean surfaces are a delight to behold, you will see nothing more than some die polish lines on both sides. PCGS 963, NGC 277, CAC 166. PCGS has graded a total of 182 in MS66+ including the five Missing Wing Feathers certified. For the date/ grade, the PCGS Price Guide value is $5,500; there is no listed value for the variety. There is a wide range of APRs for the date in MS66+ CAC, we sold three in 2022 from $4,230 to $6,169. Only 15 coins are finer, all MS67. If you collect Walking Liberty varieties or if you are working on a high end Registry set, take a good look at this coin. Cert. Number 44656494 PCGS # 810529
