Tied for FINEST graded at either service, this Premium GEM is a very important coin for the advanced Morgan dollar collector. Every collector knows how exceedingly RARE this date is in MS66! A vibrant, satiny, mint luster beams from all over with swirling obverse cartwheels that are dramatic. The well struck devices are fully frosted and show bold, sharp definition in the details. Light golden and amber tone clings to the left periphery on the obverse while the rest of the surfaces are brilliant silver with some pearly iridescent overtones. The reverse has some richer lilac-silver in the center with a halo of golden tone at the rims. The eye appeal is SUPERB, with zero major ticks or lines. Very RARE so fine, a major condition rarity that most collectors will never have the opportunity to own; NONE are finer at either service. PCGS 8, NGC 1. With all the major collections of Morgan dollars that LRCA has had the honor of selling, we have only handled a single MS66 1892 dollar, the Coronet coin that brought $47,000 in June 2015 (that coin was CAC). Since that coin sold, an example sold in August 2017 for $49,350 and one sold in February 2018 for $43,200; the most recent sold for $33,600 in April 2018, but the current PCGS Price Guide value remains at $47,500 reflecting the strong demand for SUPERB grade Morgans in the market.
