- A MONUMENTAL example of this very scarce date--the highest numerically graded example at PCGS, and among the absolute FINEST example for the date. Boasting one of the greatest pedigrees in numismatics, Louis Eliasberg, this coin is essentially traced since the time it was struck. This remarkable coin was cataloged in our June 2015 Regency Auction as follows: "This is yet another special former Eliasberg coin that makes you wonder if it’s really a Specimen or possibly a Proof. One thing’s for sure, this off the charts coin is the all time finest 1893-O! If you want to really scrutinize this piece, there are a few microscopic ticks scattered around, but overall the surfaces are extremely clean. Both sides exhibit nearly flawless, icy, 4” mirrors, and nearly 6” mirrors on the reverse with great clarity. A warm, sensational mix of original blue/violet/pale burnt orange/lavender colors is spread all over. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and well struck. The eye appeal is phenomenal!" Like the 1892-S offered above, this coin was purchased by J.M. Clapp from Colvin Randall in March 1894. John H. Clapp estate sold en bloc to Louis Eliasberg Sr. in 1942. Eliasberg Collection, April 1997, lot 2293. Sold in the 2004 FUN Auction; dealer intermediaries to Legend Numismatics; to the Coronet Collection, Legend Rare Coin Auctions, June 2015, where it realized $458,250. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. The current PCGS Price Guide lists a value of $450,000, based on the above cited realization. What an amazing opportunity for any advanced Morgan dollar collector or any one seeking truly special, sexy coins. This remarkable, SUPERB GEM will be a cornerstone of the next WORLD CLASS cabinet it graces. Cert. Number 28286118 PCGS # 7225
