- 1828 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-117. Rarity-1. Square 2, Small 8s, Large Letters. MS-64 (PCGS). Handsome pearl-gray surfaces with crescents of soft cobalt blue iridescence lining the left obverse and reverse borders. Lustrous, smooth and frosty with a boldly executed strike, to boot. While the 1828 Overton-117 is a plentiful die marriage in an absolute sense, the offered coin is rare at the assigned grade level and included in the Condition Census listing provided by Stephen J. Herrman in the Spring 2023 revision to his AMBPR for Bust half dollars. Provenance: From the Kohler Wisconsin Collection. Earlier from Heritage's CSNS Signature Coin Auction of May 2007, lot 747.
