- 1881 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-102. Type II Reverse. MS-66 (PCGS). Both sides of this brilliant and beautiful Gem are fully lustrous with a decided semi-prooflike finish. It is sharply to fully struck over all but a few isolated design features and has remarkably smooth surfaces. Only 10,000 Philadelphia Mint coins intended for general circulation were forthcoming for the year in the half dollar category -- the final year of branch mint coinage for the denomination was in 1878 and only the Philadelphia Mint struck half dollars from 1879 through the end of the Liberty Seated series in 1891.
