- GERMANY. Hesse-Cassel. Ducat, 1746. Friedrich I, Langrave of Hesse-Cassel as King of Sweden (1730-51). NGC AU-55. Fr-1299; KM-409. Bare head right with Swedish title; Reverse: Tall, narrow crowned quartered arms of Sweden, Latin title Landgrave of Hessen. Friedrich was the spouse of Sweden's Queen Ulrica Eleanora, displacing her to rule her kingdom with great success in his own right. An original survivor of this RARE issue, displaying a touch of central softness as is typical, with surrounding brilliance that is unexpected for the grade. Estimate: $3,500 - $5,000. NGC AU-55.
