- A VERY CHOICE and wonderfully original example of this popular Carson City half eagle! Really fresh from an old holding, this coin has been through grading just one time before being submitted for CAC and consigned to this sale. A full glowing mint luster and rich orange-tinged golden surfaces give this sharply struck coin a great look. Close inspection with a strong glass will reveal a few tiny ticks on the reverse, but they have minimal impact on the outstanding eye appeal of this near-GEM. PCGS 94, NGC 63, CAC 29. The most recent example to sell in auction was the Fairmont Collection JBR Set coin that brought $10,800 in August 2022. This coin is just as original, but displays a touch less contact, especially on the obverse.
