- 1896-S Barber Dime. MS-65 (PCGS). Beautiful pastel gold iridescence drifts over fully struck, satin-textured surfaces. This issue's mintage of only 575,056 pieces is the second lowest among San Francisco Mint Barber dimes and due to a higher rate of attrition through circulation, survivors are rarer than those of the 1913-S (510,000 coins struck) in Mint State. The 1896-S is a key date in this series, and the offered coin is at an exceptional level of preservation that is sure to excite specialists. PCGS# 4811. NGC ID: 2300.
