- An incredible near-GEM Carson City half eagle! As the most available date, the 91-CC $5 is often collected as a type coin to represent the mint in a gold type set. The present VERY CHOICE example is wholly original and fabulously eye appealing. A rich frosty golden satin luster glows with a vibrant mint brilliance on both sides. A strong glass reveals some non-invasive scattered contact. The strike is sharp and the eye appeal is amazing. PCGS 88, NGC 63, CAC 24. No NGC/CAC example has ever sold in auction, but the most recent NGC-graded example sold in March 2021, realizing $7,800. NGC has graded just 17 finer, MS65 finest.
