- Toning certainly prevents this from being a black-on-white proof, but the wonderful smoke-grey patina speaks to an outstanding level of original preservation. Thankfully, that is so because this impeccably struck proof displays technical aspirations that include a superb strike and only very slightly hairlined surfaces. There are no spots, no contact marks and no visible rim nicks to detract.
