- SINGAPORE. Nickel Keping Off-Metal Strike, AH 1247 (1831). Soho mint, Birmingham. Fighting Cock series. PCGS Genuine--Damage, EF Details Gold Shield. Prid-30B; cf. SS-36. This charming little survivor exhibits nice honest wear with light gray tone and a lovely light iridescent sheen that pops out when tilted in the light. The obverse does have a couple of small hit marks in the fields which accounts for the details designation, but don't detract from its pleasing appearance. Despite its shortcomings this off-metal version seldom appears on the market sure to add depth to the next collection it enters. According to Major Fred Pridmore there are more than 470 die variations for this issue. He further states that examples struck in nickel or brass should be considered RARE. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500.
