THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION PART II A LOW MINTAGE date! Only 5,000 circulation strike half dollars were produced, as such, ANY grade 1887 half dollar is quite scarce, and downright rare in GEM. This totally untoned example is brilliant silver with a touch of reflectivity in the fields. The devices are sharply struck and fully frosted. There are some minor hairlines noted, but none detract from the decent eye appeal. PCGS 18, NGC 18. The most recent example to sell in auction brought $3,120 in September 2020.
