THE GEORGE SCHWENK COLLECTION When this obverse die was being prepared, the S mintmark was incorrectly impressed on the die, with the thinner upper loop now appearing as the lower loop, creating an interesting Cherry Picker variety. PCGS has graded just 86 examples in all grades from AG-3 to MS66+ of this variety; the presently offered coin is among the top 10 highest graded. A vivacious mint luster swirls all over. We do note, some old iridescent tone mixed with what looks like some PVC residue (likely easily removed by a knowledgeable conservationist) and thus should be carefully viewed. The strike is typical for the date with some softness at Liberty's head and shield. The eye appeal is decent overall. PCGS 1, NGC 0. There is no PCGS Price Guide value for this variety, but the generic value in MS64 is $425. There should be some premium placed on the scarcity of the variety, and time will tell when the hammer falls. Cert. Number 45310366 PCGS # 395951
