- L.S. Consignment. VAM-5, Top-100 "S over horizontal S". Arguably the most popular 1895-S VAM, this example saves a fortune over a true mint-state example without sacrificing much. Very slight, feathery rub in the fields cannot deny sparkling mint luster, and gold toning toward the outer obverse joins violet splashes of color on the reverse. Of course, the low mintage of 400,000 pieces automatically makes any nicer 1895-S appealing to collectors.
