Vivid toning in iridescent powder blue and pinkish-apricot greets the viewer from both sides of this elegant example. Luster is full, intense and satiny, and the surfaces are exceptionally well preserved to approach numismatic perfection. In the 2023 edition of his <em>Guide Book of Franklin & Kennedy Half Dollars </em>specialist Rick Tomaska describes the 1952-S in MS-67 as "Extremely rare" and, indeed, this is one of the most challenging San Francisco Mint Franklin issues to locate at this level.
