1872 Indian Cent. Proof-66 RB (NGC). One of the finest of Proofs to survive from the modest mintage of 950 pieces, this one not only has stellar surface quality but retains most of the original mint color as well. The fields and devices are a uniform golden-red hue with a faint dusting of tan starting to form. Free of specks or spots, and the strike is absolute and precise on Liberty as well as the wreath and lettering. NGC has seen none finer in any grade category in technical terms than the present coin. One for the date specialist!
