- 1864 Liberty Seated Dime. Fortin-102a. Rarity-5. MS-62 (PCGS). CAC. Rich olive-gray obverse patina gives way to lighter peripheral toning in iridescent golden-olive on the reverse. Both sides are fully lustrous with a sharply executed strike. Produced during the Civil War era in which silver coinage was not seen in commerce in the East and Midwest, the 1864 Liberty Seated dime has a paltry circulation strike mintage of 11,000 pieces. Survivors are scarce in all grades, Mint State examples such as this particularly desirable among specialists. Provenance: From the Jerome S. Reznick Collection.
