- FROM THE BEAR CREEK COLLECTION This highly reflective and lustrous example is the SOLE PL designated example at either service. The brilliance of the mirrored fields give off the first impression of a Proof striking, but it is on closer inspection a circulation striking from an early, polished state of the dies. The devices, showing some normal weakness in areas, display a thick, rich mint frost. There are scattered ticks marks, and some light lines that appear in the flashiness of the fields, when rotated in a light. While the overall color is brilliant silver, with some light white iridescence suggests an old dip that did not burn into the surfaces. PCGS 19, NGC 20 (non PL); PCGS 0, NGC 1 (PL). Off the market for nearly a generation, this coin last sold in the 2006 FUN auction. The most recent non-CAC NGC coin without the PL status realized $3,220 in April 2012 (clearly these are not as commonly offered as the population might suggest). The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $3,500 and perhaps this coin, with its unique status as the ONLY PL designated example will exceed that level. Cert. Number 656021-008 PCGS # 6971
