Despite a generous mintage of nearly 10 million pieces, the 1903 is VERY RARE in Mint Sate grades and is truly undervalued given its rarity. The presently offered GEM is tied for second finest graded by PCGS, beaten out for finest honors by two in MS66+. A frosty luster blooms under the deep, rich toning that bathes both sides. This coin is not dark or drab, and the strike is bold throughout. PCGS 7, NGC 4. The last time a non-CAC PCGS coin sold in auction was way back in September 2005! More recently an NGC coin sold for $3,360, but that was still two and a half years ago. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,500.
