- 1794 Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent. With NEW YORK. Fuld-2, W-8575. Rarity-7. Large & on Reverse. Plain Edge. VF-25 (PCGS). CAC. This is a very rare coin, the paperwork that accompanied it when offered in our August 2011 ANA Auction providing Don Taxay's estimate from the 1970s that this piece is "one of only three known" of the Large & on Reverse, Plain Edge type. A few more coins have since been attributed in collections, but it is still likely that no more than eight or so examples of W-8575 are positively confirmed to exist. Original copper-brown surfaces are overall smooth with only minor surface build up in the protected areas around and among the devices. There are no abrasions of note, and a minor planchet flaw in the left reverse field is as made. A find for the specialist. Provenance: From the Bill Gleckler Collection.
