详细说明: 1802 BD-2, Breen-6118, B-2. Rarity-6. MS-61 (NGC). This is an extremely important opportunity for the specialist to acquire this rare die marriage. Highly lustrous bright yellow gold surfaces with a hint of green. A few very light abrasions are noted on either side. This is clearly the rarest of three known die varieties for the year. Quite possibly the finest known example of this die marriage. Harry W. Bass, Jr. was only able to locate two examples of this variety for his collection, one EF and the other VF. The Smithsonian Institution has an example that grades VF. Previous to the appearance of this example, the finest we were aware of graded AU-58, and was offered in our August 1999 Rarities Sale as possibly finest known. This is the same reverse die used for the extremely rare 1804 13 Stars quarter eagle, along with two different die varieties, one dated 1802 and the other 1804. NGC certified as an 1802/1 overdate, however, in our opinion all 1802 quarter eagles are normal date varieties.
