Only 4,256 Grant half dollars with the small star in the field above GRANT, and is a KEY issue in the entire series. It is also among those in the popular Civil War themed commemoratives, and is in demand in all grades. Examples in MS66 or finer are quite scarce and this one is very pleasing. A dappled iridescent toning in pleasing pastel hues, lilac, lavender, rose, blue and gold are brought out by a glassy luster and the devices are sharply struck up. The eye appeal is very nice. PCGS 45, NGC 55. There is a huge range of APRs, but this one brought $6,463 six years ago. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,000. Just 16 are graded finer, and those sell for five figures. This is a neat piece poised for strong bidding and placement in a great set of commemoratives. Cert. Number 33272742 PCGS # 9307
