详细说明: 1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 15-L, W-4820. Rarity-4. Straight Plow Beam, Leaning Head. VF-35 (PCGS). 160.9 grains. An unusually choice and high grade example of this variety, one that at least threatens (and perhaps outpaces) the bottom of the Condition Census. Nice dark olive with contrasting light brown devices. Smooth and glossy all over, well centered, and problem free. Some old trivial buildup is seen within a few hidden areas of the reverse design, to no negative impact. This is just a really pretty example whose Condition Census is populated by AU and EF coins. This is a touch less sharp than the Craige coin (SBG January 2013, lot 11301), but it's clearly prettier; that piece is the last one listed in the eight-coin SHI census. We sold the Spiro-Oechsner coin in the November 2019 EPU sale. Graded identically to this (PCGS VF-35), it brought $5,280. The Martin coin was not quite as nice but was graded the same by PCGS; it sold for $2,040 last summer. The quality of this one is closer to the 2019 EPU coin than the 2022 Martin coin.
