2012 brought a major overhaul to the circulating coinage of the nation. For the first time in nearly 60 years, the San Francisco mint struck "circulation Strike" quarters, although they were only available from the mint at a premium. Due to their very limited circulation, mintages on the Presidential and Native American dollars were severely curtailed and distrubuted only to collectors directly from the mint. With the addition of the five San Francisco quarters, the number of required coins for the 2012 mint set climbed to 33.
