Liberty Head $2-1/2 Gold Mintmark Set, Circulation Strikes (1840-1907)

The Liberty Head Quarter Eagle saw production at five different mints during its long 68 year run. Four of these mints were active before the Civil War; Philadelphia and the three southern mints at Charlotte, Dahlonega and New Orleans. In 1854, mintage at San Francisco began, and would continue through 1879. Of course the most challenging acquisitions will be the "C" and "D" mint coins, but with most of the pre-Civil War dates from which to choose, finding one will not be too difficult. A small, but interesting and historically significant set.
