Dime Type Set, Circulation Strikes (1796-present)
The dime, like the quarter, got a bit of a late start, not making its appearance until 1796. By this point, the Flowing Hair design had given way to the Draped Bust, with both small (1796-97) and large (1798-1807) eagles on the reverse. These two, as one might expect, are the key coins in this set. Few of the others will present much of a problem in obtaining, but no fewer than six Seated Liberty designs are required for completion. Even today, the Mercury dime remains one of the most recognizable and beloved issues of the early 20th century.
