The Eagle, or $10 Gold Piece was originally the highest denomination coin struck by the United States. With a history that dates back almost to the beginning of U.S. coinage, this great coin has been a favorite of collectors for many years. The early issues featured a Draped Bust of a capped Liberty. The original design featured a small eagle on the reverse, and that remains the key to this set. The original design of the well-known $10 Liberty struck in 1838 and 1839 is also one of the keys and top grade examples are quite scarce and desirable. Finally, the two of the early $10 Indians, struck in 1907 are also more than a challenge and top grade examples run well into six figures.
