2019 Palau $5 Guardian Angel { FDOI } MS70 { PCGS-4 }. From its silver charm series, this one-ounce guardian angel presents as a miniature statue. Only the reverse identifies this gem as a legal tender 5$ Palauan coin. Just 2,500 pieces were struck for collectors and this one is from its First Day of Issue. As with many larger commemoratives from the region, this non-proof piece is finished in antiqued silver and has a shape that replicates a 3-D outline of an angel. The stylized obverse features symbolism of heaven, with the waves of the sea duplicated in the angel’s wings, and the sun and moon and clouds embroidered on the angel’s gown. And while many guardian angel’s have name’s like Michael or Gabriel, my guardian angel is Sharon, and she belongs in this set. This is one of 8 non-USA coins I acquired for this set pre-graded in a PCGS holder.
