In 1901, Joseph Lesher issued Referendum Dollars, primarily as advertising media for various merchants.  W.F. White was a mercatile company in Grand Junction, Colorado and their name was punched into the blank area at the base of the obverse of the so-called Imprint Dollars.  Each piece was serially numbered, presumably for tracking purposes in case they were sumbitted to Lesher for redemption.  Nine different different White pieces are known within a serial number range of 1 to 36, suggesting an original "mintage" of forty pieces.  Of the nine known pieces, one is unnumbered.

The finest example is a single Uncirculated piece (#3).
