George Mullen was a merchant in Victor, Colorado.  He participated in Lesher's scheme of Referendum Dollars and had a small number of pieces stamped with his name.  Based on the numbers seen on existing examples, it appears that only fifty pieces were made for Mullen (the numbers on Mullen pieces begin at 1502 and end at 1550).  We know of 22 different numbered examples, and no unnumbered ones.  Most of the known examples are circulated and only three pieces have been called "Unc." in the past.  Despite their rarity, Mullen pieces seem relatively inexpensive.  The record for this type is $5,750, a price achieved by an AU55 example numbered 1530.
