The 1894 Indian Cent saw a significant production decline, compared to previous years from when it was originally struck. For example, from 1887-1893 the mintages were in the approximately 40 million range. The same applies to Indian Cents struck at the Philadelphia Mint from 1895-1908, as mintages are also considerably high and in the 30 million to 100 million. Therefore, the 1894 is considered a scarcer issue and tends to bring a premium compared to most common dates in the series.
The 1894 Indian Cent is scarce in most Unriculated grades, but yet, for a significant premium collectors can find examples up to MS66+ without much difficulty, just expect to pay a strong price for this grade or higher. There are some MS67 examples that have been graded by PCGS, but they can be difficult to locate, as not many examples have been assigned this grade or higher.
