The 1873 No Arrows, Closed 3 Quarter Dollar is rather scarce thanks to a low mintage of ojnly 40,000 pieces.  Circulated examples become expensive in AU condition and, in Mint State, this date becomes very rare.  The finest example known (as of September 2011) is a single PCGS MS-62.

Occasionally, circulated Proofs appear on the market presented as the scarcer business strikes.  All Proof Quarter Dollars issued from 1872 to 1876 feature a raised mark on the left side of the shield on the reverse (see image above); this mark does not appear on any circulation strikes.
