The 1869 Dime is slightly scarce, thanks to a smaller mintage of 256,000 coins.  A couple dozen Mint State examples are spread out rather evenly across a spectrum of grades ranging from MS63 up to (and including) MS67.  Most examples are very well struck.

Researcher Gerry Fortin has identified seven die pairs used to strike 1869 Dimes.  Three of the die pairs were used to strike both Proofs and coins for circulation, leading to some deceptive early strikes among the Mint State coins.  The Mint State versions are decidedly more rare than their Proof counterparts, thus certification is recommended.
