Ten were over struck on an authentic $10 gold Indian half eagle. Struck at Daniel Carr’s mint. Dies used were
1950 Seattle Coin club medal featuring a large beaver similar to that used on the North West Company token of 1820, and a 1946 Oregon Numismatic Society die pair with the smaller beaver similar to that used with the Oregon Exchange Company $10 in 1849.

The mintage of the 1849 $5 Oregon gold piece has been listed as 6,000 pieces (and possibly more), but the number of surviving examples is exceedingly low. PCGS has certified just over two dozen examples, which may include some duplicates. To date, no Mint State examples have turned up. The wide distribution of grades (from Fair 2 to AU 58) indicates the coins were accepted by their intended audience, and the pieces circulated freely.
