Great Collections POP1 Nothing lower. Direct provenance to General George Washington who was instrumental in the Half Disme being the first coinage of our fledgling nation. With a mintage of only 1500, history shows General Washington paid for the coins with Silver, and used them in commerce, and or gave them out as favors. PCGS states in their Price Guide that “Fewer than 100 exist”, and the Red Book gives an estimation of between two and three hundred surviving examples. Either way, a rare and exciting piece of American Numismatic history.

The PCGS graded MS67 is from the great John Pittman collection, one of the highest quality U.S. coin collections ever assembled. This specimen has amazing mark-free surfaces and a fully rounded cheek. The luster and originality are outstanding in every way. This coin, along with the PCGS graded SP67, is the finest known example of the first coin officially struck by the U.S. Mint.
