Gadoury-305 variety, Louis XV type. Struck at the Rouen mint. Struck when John Law’s company controlled the French mints, and thus an issue sought by collectors of early American coins. This coin has superb, original, prooflike surfaces, lovely blue and golden toning and a look that says high end mint state, but housed in a cool, vintage, seldom encountered PCGS OGH Garrett slab. Ex Bowers and Ruddy’s October 1980 sale of the Garrett Collection, as noted, Part III, lot #1300.

I bought this coin from a friend of my mother as a favor to my mother. It was nice to spend time with them discussing coins. I cherish the memory.
