Mexican "Pillar Dollar" or 8 Reales of Ferdinand VI Basic Set, Circulation Strikes (1747-1760)

The 17 coins in this set represent every date and mintmark combination issued under the rule of King Ferdinand VI of Spain. All were issued at the Mexico City Mint for use throughout the Spanish Colonies, one of which existed as part of the American colonies. The consistently high quality of these coins made them favorites for trade and commerce , thus they were familiar coins to most people who lived during the latter part of the 18th century.
