M.S. Frick CAC Half Eagles 的钱币相册
Doug Winter comments: The 1857 $5 is not as scarce as the 1858 or 1859 issues, but it is still a tougher issue than any of the 1851-1856 P mint half eagles. This coin is lovely and looks nicer than most No Motto P mint half eagles in MS61 holders. This seems like it should be a $3,000+ coin. Purchased from Doug Winter 4/2023 in his Fairmont Sale. Ex Stack’s Bowers 3/2023: 5060; Fairmont Hoard - CAG Set.
Doug Winter comments: The 1845-D is a great issue to use as a type coin due to its having no rarity premiumm and its being a better-than-average product from a mint where quality control could be lax, depending on the year of production. Choice AU coins are much scarcer than the inflated PCGS populations suggest. This coin is, to my eyes, as nice an AU55 example of this type as you are likely to find. The color is a crisp medium russet while the surfaces are lustrous with limited abrasions. This exact coin is the sole 1845-D half eagle graded AU55 by PCGS/CAC to sell at auction. Purchased from Doug Winter 4/2024 in the Star City Collection sale. Ex Stack’s Bowers 8/2022 ANA: 3030; Fairmont Hoard - JBR Set.
