Between 1927 and 1933, Germany issued a large silver coin of the 5 Mark denomination nearing a mature oak tree on the obverse and a stylized eagle on the reverse. The oak tree represented the Weimar Republic, which grew out of the old Imperial Germany after World War I. The "Oak Tree" 5 Mark is considered a "regular issue" even though it was made during the same period as a number of German commemorative coins of the same denomination. Choice examples are beautiful. The frosty luster of the silver metal and the lovely design of the coin itself make these one of the most popular of all German coins. All are hard to find in Gem condition and a couple of the dates (1930-G and 1933-J) are downright rare.
