Modern Commemorative Half Dollars, Circulation Strikes (1982-present)

The era of the modern commemorative was ushered in with the George Washington half dollar in 1982, 250 years after our first President's birth (calendar changes notwithstanding). The mintages were huge and prices quickly fell below the Mint's issue price. Today this denomination's series is growing with interesting designs and high collector interest.
